To qualify you must meet the following requirements:
Application Components
Here’s what you need to have ready when you apply (all of the following sections must be completed before we can evaluate your candidacy):
- SEO Law Application:
- Personal Details (including name, address, email, demographic information, etc.)
- Law School Application & Admission Details (which can be updated throughout the Fellowship application process)
- Supporting Documentation:
- Resume (use the SEO template)
- LSAC Academic Summary
- Unofficial undergraduate/graduate transcripts
- Personal Statement
- One reference (to complete a standard SEO evaluation form)
- Law School Enrollment/Seat Deposit, If Applicable
Timeline
2025 Fellowship Application Timeline:
- Application Opens: Tuesday, November 19, 2024
- Deadline: Friday, February 28, 2025 (11:59 PM EST)
- Interviews: Rolling invitations from January–April 2025
- Proof of Enrollment: Monday, April 14, 2025 (11:59 PM EST)
- Admissions Decisions: Rolling from March–April 2025
- Program Dates: May 2025 – August 2026
- Summer Internship: May 17, 2025 – August 1, 2025 (dates may vary slightly by firm)
- 1L Academic Support: August 2025- May 2026
- Professional Support: October 2025 – August 2026
Frequently Asked Questions (“FAQs”)

Do I need to be admitted to law school to apply?
No, but you must have submitted at least one law school application by the time you apply for the Fellowship.

Am I eligible if I’m not starting law school in Fall 2025?
Only candidates who are starting law school in the fall immediately after their Fellowship summer are eligible for internships with our law firm partners.

Who is eligible to apply to the Fellowship?
All are invited to apply; however, eligibility requirements include consideration of GPA, test scores, work authorization, and graduation date. SEO Law encourages applicants from underserved backgrounds, broadly defined, including but not limited to:
- Race or ethnicity
- Gender identity or sexual orientation
- Immigration or veteran status
- Disability or first-generation status
- Socioeconomic background or experiences with the criminal justice/child welfare systems

Can I update my application after submission?
At each step of your application, you will be prompted to provide updates on your law school application and admissions status. Please create a profile and visit the application portal for detailed information and instructions.
Please note that we will not accept updated resumes submitted past the application deadline or accept updated scores submitted past February 2025.

How do I submit my law school enrollment documents for the Fellowship application?
Submit your law school enrollment form (proof of your seat deposit) after committing to a school:
- Update your “Law School Information” task with your final decision.
- This will generate a new task, “Law School Enrollment” in your portal where you can upload the required documents.

When should I expect to interview with the SEO Law team?
Interviews will take place from January 2025 to April 2025. If selected, you will be prompted to schedule a mutually convenient time.

Will selected Fellows only be considered for firms or cities noted in their applications or interviews?
Applicants can indicate preferred cities and mention firms of interest during interviews. However, SEO Law determines the final placement within one of the cities selected by the applicant.
